Industrial E-commerce•Case Study•Gunwant Electricals

An industrial electrical catalog — rebuilt as a modern commerce experience.

We designed and built a complete digital commerce platform for Gunwant Electricals — an established industrial electrical distributor operating out of India. Storefront, checkout, payments, administrative back office, and catalog processing — engineered as a single, cohesive system.

THE CHALLENGE

Thousands of products. Dozens of specifications per SKU. No off-the-shelf solution that fits.

Industrial electrical products aren't simple. A single LED fixture might ship in eight combinations of wattage, color temperature, and mounting base — each tracked as a separate SKU with its own stock level. Multiply that across thousands of products from multiple manufacturers, and the result is a catalog too complex for conventional e-commerce templates.

The platform needed to handle meaningful product discovery across technical attributes, accurate variant selection where not every combination exists, reliable checkout that maintains inventory consistency, and structured order management with clear accountability. The product data itself — sourced from manufacturer PDFs and spreadsheets in inconsistent formats — needed a dependable path from raw files into organised, searchable records.

THE SOLUTION

Built around the product, not around a template.

01 / SPECIFICATION DISCOVERY

Product discovery that understands electrical specifications

Buyers filter by the attributes that matter to their work — wattage, voltage, color temperature, base type, brand — not just price and popularity. When selecting a product variant, the interface evaluates available combinations in real time, disabling options that are out of stock or don't exist as a real SKU, and guiding the buyer to the closest valid configuration rather than forcing them to start over. The experience is designed for someone specifying components for a job, not casually browsing.

02 / TRANSACTION INTEGRITY

A checkout built for accuracy

The shopping experience supports persistent cart, address management, and integrated payment processing through Razorpay. Checkout was engineered to maintain inventory consistency — even when multiple buyers attempt to purchase the same limited stock simultaneously. Abandoned orders are automatically detected and resolved, returning reserved inventory to the available pool without manual intervention.

03 / DATA AUTOMATION

Organised from the source

Product data arrives from manufacturers as PDFs and spreadsheets — formats that vary between brands and change with every catalog revision. Rather than entering thousands of SKUs by hand, we built a processing pipeline that extracts product data from these raw files, validates completeness, sources product imagery, and organises related SKUs into structured product families with proper variant relationships. The catalog stays maintainable as new products and price lists arrive.

Catalog & Asset Lifecycle

Products, brands, and categories are managed through structured workflows with integrated image handling, ensuring consistent asset optimization across the catalog.

Enforced Order State Machine

Orders move through defined lifecycle stages — from confirmed to processing, shipped, and delivered — with each transition validated and every significant action logged for accountability.

Real-Time Operational Signals

The dashboard surfaces real-time operational signals: recent order activity, low-stock alerts, and pending items that need attention — computed directly from live transactional records.
